Black Honey (or an Exuberance of Drapetomania)

Video installation triptych Black Honey

Black Honey (or an Exuberance of Drapetomania)

Black Honey (Or An Exuberance of Drapetomania) is a video installation consisting of speculative rituals in the form of three experimental films housed in fabric chambers. The work, which incorporates textiles, projection, and polyvinyl butyral, as well as a range of multisensory techniques, contemplates Black queerness through a lens of dream logic. It locates the Black, queer person as a site of pleasure, possibility, and future. Black Honey invites viewers to slip sideways out of Eurolinear time and into Black, queer alterity.
